Find yourself immersed in this small remaining forest. Even a couple of meters inside the trees it feels spookily removed from the outside world. For good reason, this is a forest with a dark history. Early in the 20thcentury, disabled people, such as those with leprosy and handicapped children/albinos were thrown there as cast-offs and left to die eaten by wild animals like the hyena, lions because then these animals lived their before the increase of population leading to demand for land for cultivation and houses. It was  left untouched by loggers and locals because for a long time although now it is being invaded and if not conserved soon it is going to be demolished.Years back it was untouchable due to fear of remaining spirits. There are varieties of birds in the forest including the tawny eagle, doves, yellow vented bulbul, but also velvet monkeys.

Duration: Half day or full day if combined with trips to Kilambo hot springs. There is a good picnic site if you take your lunch boxes with drinks, and also good for camping
